Custom Toile Patterns
The word “toile” comes from the French word toile de Jouy. Originally meaning a fabric with a repeating pattern of pastoral scenes, at Jubilee Paper we’ve expanded the definition to mean a repeating pattern with many different icons, scenes, or elements. We love illustrating custom toiles for our clients that represent their story—places of importance, activities they like, and any other meaningful symbols. It’s become a signature design element in much of our custom wedding work.
We are excited to offer custom toile patterns a la carte so that you don’t need to be a wedding invitation client to get a deeply personal custom pattern made just for you!

Have Meryl hand illustrate a custom pattern just for you! Your toile could feature elements from your city, highlight activities you love, tell the story of you and your partner…the possibilities are endless.
How do I order a custom toile?
When you add a personalized toile pattern to your cart, you’ll be promoted to fill out a form with a list of what you’d like to have included in your pattern. There are two sections—“must haves” and “more ideas.” You may include up to three items in the “must haves” section. Please include at least ten items in the “more ideas” section as that will give us plenty to work with! After placing your order, Meryl will reach out via email to confirm your order and ask any follow up questions.
What is the design process like?
First, you’ll receive a rough sketch of how Meryl envisions the toile elements will be connected and laid out on the page (there are lots of creative ways to do this). You will have the opportunity for two rounds of feedback, and then we will move on to the final illustration. Once the final illustration is delivered, you’ll have one more round of feedback to tweak any details.
What can I use my custom toile for?
Almost anything you can imagine! Custom wallpaper or fabric, personalized cards, envelope liners, notebook covers, tissue paper or packaging, etc, etc.
This product is a digital repeating pattern tile that is for personal use only. No physical item will be shipped. 2-3 week lead time.
